Antonio
Carraro's swinging design

IN less than 10 seconds the
operator station on Antonio Carraro's latest tractor can swing 180
degrees, changing the driver from forward to
rear-facing.
The Italian-made HR6500 tractor
also has a 42kW Perkins diesel engine and a top speed of 30km/h in
either direction.
Antonio Carraro representative
Cliff Gray said it was suited to work on steep slopes or hillsides
and where a low-profile tractor was needed.
"The HR 6500 has a hydrostatic,
four-speed transmission and a lift capacity of 2100kg for the
three-point linkage, so it's a very capable tractor," Cliff
said.
"And having the ability to face
backwards or forwards from the driver platform makes it great for
slashing, hauling or spraying."
In its standard form the HR
6500 is a Roll Over Protection Structure set up, but a
well-appointed cabin is an option.
"The Star Light cabin is very
comfortable and comes with heating, sound-proofing and
airconditioning," Cliff said.
The liquid-cooled,
four-cylinder Perkins diesel engine has a 2216cc capacity and a
50-litre fuel tank.
Braking is via front and rear
hydraulically-activated discs in an oil bath.
The power take-off shaft has a
speed of 540rpm.
Cliff said the HR6500 also had
a four-wheel-drive system with front and rear axle differential
locks.
"Another design feature of the
HR6500's chassis is what Antonio Carraro calls the Actio system,"
he said.
"This allows the front axle to
oscillate 15 degrees and that gives the tractor excellent clearance
and grip on uneven ground - which makes it safer to
use."
In its cabin format, the HR6500
is just 2200mm high and 1565mm wide, depending on the tyre set
up.
"There are several tyre choices
to provide plenty of flexibility when it comes to different
applications," Cliff said.

Each way bet: The Antonio Carraro HR 6500 features a fully
reversible operator station.
